Signing Up for Service

Welcome to Kearns Improvement District. The following information should be helpful to you during your transition. Below you will find information on signing up for service.  Requirements for service vary depending on whether you’re a buyer, a renter, or landlord.  Please feel free to contact our office with any further questions you may have. Buying an Existing Home

If you are buying an existing home, please call our office and our helpful staff will get your application process started.  Or you may come into our office to fill out an application for service. You will need to bring your documents from closing, picture id, and $30.00 for the deposit and service fee ($25.00 of the deposit is refundable when you close your account and will be applied towards the final bill; $5.00 is a one time service fee). Sign up hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Building a New Home 

If you are building a new home, please call our office and our helpful staff will get your application process started.  Or you may come into our office to fill out an application for service. You will need to bring your documents from closing, picture id, your lot number and the name of the subdivision you are building in, and $30.00 for the deposit and service fee ($25.00 of the deposit is refundable when you close your account and will be applied towards the final bill; $5.00 is a one time service fee). Sign up hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  It is important to call before you come in to make sure your builder has paid the required fees.

Renting a Home 

If you are renting a home, the owner of the home will need to sign up for service. We do not put accounts in tenant’s names.


Landlords

Owners of rental property need to sign up for water and sewer service and the account in their name. Tenants are not allowed to put the account in their name. If your property is in your current tenant’s name, it will be allowed to remain in their name. However, to have service at the property when, or if, your current tenant moves and/or closes their account, you as the owner, will need to sign up for service. To sign up for service, please call our office and our helpful staff will get your application process started.  Or you may come into our office to fill out an application for service. Picture identification is required. You are responsible to pay any outstanding balance owing on the property along with $30 for the deposit and service fee ($25.00 deposit is refundable when you close your account and will be applied toward the final bill; $5.00 is a one time service fee).
