Welcome to Kearns Improvement District. Below you will find information on signing up for service, an explanation of how we bill and our rates, as well as ways you can pay your bill. Please feel free to contact our office with any further questions you may have. You can reach us at 801-968-1011.
Signing Up For Service
Requirements for service vary depending on whether you’re a buyer, landlord, or renter. (If you are renting a home your landlord will need to sign up for service to the home. If you have any questions, please contact our office.)
*Please note, Kearns Improvement District provides culinary water and sanitary sewer service only and does not provide garbage service. If you have questions about your garbage service you will need to contact your provider as follows:

Billing & Rates
We have four monthly billing cycles
Cycle A is the area east of the railroad tracks.
Cycle B is the area between approximately 4800 West and 5600 West and 4700 South and 6200 South.
Cycle C is all of Oquirrh Shadows and
Cycle D is all property located west of 5600 West and our commercial and industrial accounts. At the time you receive your bill you have approximately three to four weeks before it is due.

*Our water rates are conservation based, which means the more water you use the more you will be charged. The amount due for water is based on actual water use during the month.
Sewer charge:$20.53 per month plus $0.44 per 1,000 gallons of water based on previous winter’s usage.
*New customer’s usage will be billed at $23.61 per month which is based on 7,000 gallons of water use.
Basic service fee:
$7.00/month (helps cover the cost of repair and maintenance of infrastructure)
Special water fee:
$2.00/month (helps to develop reuse water for outdoor use in the District)
*Bills are always due on a Monday (except holidays). Meters are read April through October. We do not read meters during the winter (November through March), customers are charged for 10,000 gallons of water plus the “service” or “fixed” fees and sewer rate. Your April bill will reflect the first reading since we last read in October. The usage shown and water charged in April is the total used all winter and the amount you were charged for water during the winter is credited to your bill.

Payment Options
1. Pay through our website using your Visa, MasterCard debit or credit card, or by check, no charge.
2. Pay over the phone with a Visa or Master Card debit or credit card. There is a $2.60 convenience fee for over the phone payments.
3. Mail in payments, please no cash.
4. Pay in person at our office during regular business hours-M-F 9am-5pm at 5350 West 5400 South. Pay inside or at our drive through window on the west side of our building.
5. Pay in the night drop located inside the front door or in our new night drop on the west side of the building after hours and on weekends, no cash.
Equal Pay
We offer equal payments to our customers who prefer to have a set payment amount every month throughout the year. We have open enrollment for this program two times per year, April and October. In order to be eligible for our equal payment plan you have to have lived in your house for one full year and your bill must be current. You may bring it current when signing up for the plan if needed. So, once your year is up and if you are interested in equal pay, all you need to do is meet the above requirements and give our office a call.
