Welcome to Kearns Improvement District. Kearns Improvement District provides culinary water and sanitary sewer service. Below you will find information on signing up for service, an explanation of how we bill and our rates, as well as ways you can pay your bill. If you have any questions about your bill, water conservation, water problems such as a leak at your home, etc., or sewer problems, please call our office at 801-968-1011.
We have after-hours emergency service. If your experiencing an emergency, please call our office number. We do not offer after-hours water connections. If you have just moved into your home and need water service, you will need to come into our office by 12:00 p.m., sign up for service, and the water will usually be connected by 5:00 p.m. that day. Please call before coming in. If service has been disconnected for non-payment and it is after 5:00 p.m., the water will be connected the next business day.
Signing Up For Service
Requirements for service vary depending on whether you’re a buyer, landlord, or renter. (If you are renting a home your landlord will need to sign up for service to the home. If you have any questions, please contact our office.)
*Please note, Kearns Improvement District provides culinary water and sanitary sewer service only and does not provide garbage service. If you have questions about your garbage service you will need to contact your provider as follows:

Water and Sewer Service Fees and Rates (Effective 1/1/2013)
Water Rates:
Our water rates are conservation based, which means the more water you use the more you will be charged per 1,000 gallons. You will be charged $2.07 per 1,000 gallons for the first 10,000 gallons of water and $2.60 per 1,000 gallons for the next 15,000 gallons and so forth as follows:

Basic Service Fee helps cover the cost of repair and maintenance of infrastructure: $8.37/month
(if your service is commercial or industrial, please call us for rate.)
Special Water Fee helps to develop reuse water for outdoor use in the District: $2.00/month
Commercial Rate: $2.44/1,00 gals
Industrial Rate: $2.22/1,000 gals
Basic Service and Special Water Fees for Commercial, Industrial, and certain Irrigation customers are charged according to meter size. Please call our office for the amounts.
Irrigation Rate*: $2.44/1,000 gals
*Irrigation rate is for customers with a separate irrigation meter. Irrigation rate will be reduced by $.03/1,000 gals. if a KID approved "smart" irrigation controller is installed and utilized.

Sewer Rates:
Residential
$21.36 per month plus $0.83 per 1,000 gallons of customer's average previous winter's water use (homes with less winter water use will pay less, larger users will pay more, range will be roughly from $22 to $29). New customers will be billed at $27.17 per month which is based on 7,000 gallons of water use.
Commercial & Industrial:
$9.95 per month plus $2.47/1,00 gals. flow charge.
Payment Options
1. Pay through our website using your Visa, MasterCard debit or credit card, or by check, no charge.
2. Pay over the phone at 855-284-2933 with a Visa or Master Card debit or credit card. There is a $1.50 convenience fee for over the phone payments.
3. Mail in payments, please no cash.
4. Pay in person at our office during regular business hours-M-F 9am-5pm at 5350 West 5400 South. Pay inside or at our drive through window on the west side of our building.
5. Pay in the night drop located inside the front door or in our new night drop on the west side of the building after hours and on weekends, no cash.
Equal Pay
We offer equal payments to our customers who prefer to have a set payment amount every month throughout the year. We have open enrollment for this program two times per year, April and October. In order to be eligible for our equal payment plan you have to have lived in your house for one full year and your bill must be current. You may bring it current when signing up for the plan if needed. So, once your year is up and if you are interested in equal pay, all you need to do is meet the above requirements and give our office a call.
